Privacy Policy

QuoteMySteel is operated by Connect Pointe. This policy explains what we collect when you use the service, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Project documents — the files you upload, such as drawings, specifications, bills of material and RFQ packages, together with your answers to any clarifying questions.
• Project details found in your documents — for example the project name, company, city and state, which we read from the files to prepare the estimate and recommend suppliers.
• Account data — if you create an account: your name, email address and authentication identifiers from Firebase Authentication (email or Google sign-in). No account is needed to get an estimate.
• Usage data — page views and four product events (quote started, files uploaded, quote viewed, account created) collected with Google Analytics. Analytics never receives your documents, their file names or their contents.

How we use it

• To read your documents and prepare a budget estimate.
• To recommend suppliers that fit your project.
• To make an introduction to a supplier when you ask for one.
• To keep your projects available to you if you have an account.
• To operate, secure and improve the service.

We do not sell your information, and we do not publish your documents.

Automated processing

Your documents are processed by an AI provider (OpenAI) to check that they describe a steel project, extract quantities and specifications, price the work at current market rates and find suitable suppliers. This happens server-side and without human review; the result is shown to you directly. OpenAI processes the data on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. If you would rather not have documents processed this way, do not upload them and contact us at connect@cptapp.com.

Who we share it with

• Suppliers — only when you ask for an introduction, and only the project scope needed for them to quote, plus your contact details.
• Service providers — Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage), Google Analytics, Vercel (hosting) and OpenAI (document processing). Each acts on our instructions.
• Legal — where required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

Storage and security

Files are stored in Google Cloud Storage in the United States, under access rules that limit reads to the session or account that uploaded them and to our administrators. Every request is authenticated. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not upload material you are not permitted to share.

Retention

Projects and files are kept so you can return to your estimate and so we can support supplier introductions. You can ask us to delete a project or your whole account at any time and we will do so.

Your choices

• Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you or your projects.
• Ask us to correct or delete it.
• Block analytics with your browser or an extension; the service works without it.
• Unsubscribe from any non-essential email.

Children

The service is a business tool and is not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes

If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders.
